An audio CD in memoriam Piroska Tutsek

Discorara Ltd. has published on the ocassion of the centenary a special audio CD. In spite of the fact, that Piroska Tutsek was an internationally acknowledged and most successful Hungarian singer, her art has been immortalized only by recently discovered amateur archive quality live recordings only. This might be the explanation that she has been almost unknown by now in the circle of the opera fans accustomed to commercial recordings.

These recordings however from the musical point of view constitute wonderful artistic performances at the Budapest State Opera, Vienna State Opera and at Teatro alla Scala, Milano.

These are excerps from the perfomances listed below (partners and conductors indicated):

  • Don Carlos (Vienna 1937 - Todor Mazaroff , cond: Bruno Walter)
  • Gioconda (Budapest 1941 - Anna Báthy, István Laczó, Mihály Székely; cond: Sergio Failoni)
  • Tannhäuser (Vienna 1943 - Set Svanholm; cond: Leopold Reichwein)
  • Götterdämmerung (Vienna 1943 - cond: Hans Knappertsbusch
  • Parsifal (Milano, Teatro alla Scala 1940 - cond: Tullio Serafin)
